The Oakland Athletics held its annual Filipino Heritage Night at the Oakland Coliseum Friday, August 3. Filipino pride was recognized with dance performances, food trucks serving traditional Filipino cuisine, cultural activities and community engagement in Champions Plaza.
"The Filipino community is such an important part of the Bay Area," said Troy Smith, Vice President of the Oakland Athletics. "It's important to celebrate heritage, we just want the ballpark to be a welcoming place for everybody."
Long time A's fan and filmmaker Dante Basco threw out the first pitch and the celebration included a bobblehead giveaway of the A's mascot Stomper wearing a Barong Tagalog.
The A's beat the Seattle Mariners 7-5 with 17, 942 in attendance. Go A's!
